I read your post about your wound... I am so sorry! I had surgery on my ankle in early 2008. The surgeon removed the stitches 6 days later, and the incision gaped open. They put steristrips on it, but it got infected somehow.
I was on different antibiotics trying to eliminate the infection and ended up in worse shape! I learned to NEVER take antibiotics for extended periods of time! They kill the good bacteria in your intestinal tract. The antibiotic needed to get your system back in balance is very expensive ($1500.00 or more for 40 pills)
Luckliy, I have insurance, but we still had to pay $50.00 for a 10 day supply.
He eventually re-stitched the site and kept the stitches in for a month. Unfortunately, when he removed the stitches, it gaped open again. I ended up being on crutches for 7 months and going to a wound clinic twice per week to have it cleaned out and bandaged up again. After 3 months of visiting the wound clinic, it finally healed, but now there is an indentation at my ankle where it had to fill in from the bone up.
