Who is from Texas? I used to live there. I spend about half my time there and half on the East Coast. What is your favorite community in east Texas? Houston? Nacogdoches?

I love Texas. I lived in Plano for about 2 months and traveled a little bit around the state on vacations.

I had some fun in San Antonio once.  My in-laws live in Houston, but we haven't spent that much time outside of their home.  How does everyone deal with the heat?  I've never been there in the summer.

Oh lordy the summer is awful! It is often over 100 F! You will see people in obscenely short cutoffs and flip flops in walmart and tube tops. and men run around shirtless down there. One of my favorite things about Texas is the Western gear. My Native American relatives always seemed to LOVE wearing cowboy hats and boots!

I grew up in San Antonio and go down to Texas at least once a year.  We thought about moving down there, but the heat is pretty hard on my husband.

Last year, we drove all over the state, seeing places we haven't seen in over twenty years. It was great. I wish I could post this picture I took of a flying angel in a cemetery in the middle of nowhere. It's awesome.

@Nativecat - post it on your profile so we can check it out there!  I'd LOVE to see that.

We've thought about moving to Texas as well.  I worry about the heat, but I'm more worried about bugs and critters. I'm terrified of anything creepy and crawly and things that fly and bite :)

I'm from Texas too! (Houston) It's definitely a great place to grow up.

@DaisyAdair, if you ever decide to move to Texas, we will all pitch in and buy you a year's worth of Raid! Yes, there are bugs, but with some proactive spraying and normal upkeep, the creepy crawlies are kept in check. Of course, there is the occasional green lizard that will climb on the screens! LOL

LOL!  That would freak me OUT!  I once stayed in a beach house in the Outer Banks (North Carolina) and I turned on a light near a window one night and there were 5 green frogs clinging to the screen and I thought I'd have a stroke.  And when I lived in California we had tiny lizards there that thankfully never got in the house (not that I know of anyway and I'd like to just remain ignorant if there was one in there I don't know about).  The neighbors cats used to walk around with them in their mouths.  It was very cute.

Ugh..bugs freak me out...especially the hairy spiders.  Green lizards are cool.

Everything is bigger in Texas...does that mean that they have huge discount sales too?

Not sure about sales but the cost of living is way less there so I'd call that a huge discount :)

Just to let you know, If ya'll know where the town of San Marcos is (between San Antonio and Austin on I-35) is suppose to have one of the biggest outlet mall complexes in the country. How's that for shopping. I told my husband that I wanted to live in a small town, but close enough to go shopping! LOL

That's the nice thing about living down there, there's still plenty of room to spread out.
