I lose buttons all the time on coats, shirts, and whatever else. Instead of bringing it to a tailor to fix I always do it myself! It's really simple. You can buy any other funky buttons you want and sew them in place of the old ones. Once I lose one, I end up pulling off every other button and putting some fun buttons in their place to create a new look... almost like a brand new piece of clothing!

I've done this to several blazers to give them a more updated look. I've actually taken off the gold conservative buttons to for a less conservative look.

I have had a button jar for years - just for the purposes you all state. It's fun to try to match up but if not, it's more fun to just do a button make-over. The jar looks great in my house of antiques and rustic comfy.

I have went to used clothing stores and purpose blouses, shirts etc. with different type buttons and used them on some of my clothes. Going to these type of stores you usually find some old and unique buttons. Carrie Rochester, NY

I like the idea of using more modern buttons rather than buying a new blazer, very smart!

I've done it on two blazers. I actually got the blazers on a big sale, but they had big gold buttons which were a little too classic. I put on funky silver ones and the jackets look much better.

That's a great idea! Now I won't stress over a lost button; I'll be excited to add my own touch.
